2009 NFL Weekly Picks - Week 4

Sunday 4 Oct

DET @ CHI

Eddie

Bears

Fred

Bears

The Lions had their 15 minutes of fame last week after ending a 19 game losing streak.  This week they have to go into Soldier field and try to win two in a row.  Not likely to happen.

Bears are ready to blow the doors off someone…sorry Lions fans

Bengals

This could easily be a trap game for the Bengals but I believe Palmer and crew will pull this one out.

The Steeler and Packer slaying Bengals against the Doo Doo Brownies?

Texans

The Texans need to bounce back after a disappointing loss last week.  What better team to do this with than the Raiders.

As I’ve said over and over again, with Russell at QB, I will almost ALWAYS pick against the Raiders

Colts

Earlier in the year I crowned Seattle as the sleeper team of the year.  I think we can all agree that the honor for that award will go to the Jets.

In Indy, this will be a blowout

Titans

Fred

 Titans

Last week Fred said it was hard to imagine the Titans starting 0-3 and now that they did I’m going to steal a line from his book and say – I can’t see the Titans starting the season 0-4.

 They have to win 1!

Giants can only beat the Giants.  Can Priest Holmes un-retire please?

C’mon now...you can’t pick against the hottest team in the NFL

Patriots

Fred

 Ravens

The Patriots defense isn’t what it used to be but the same can be said for the Ravens.  I’m not extremely confident yet in the Patriots but something has to be said for the home field advantage.

I hate picking against the Patriots at home with Belichick and Brady.  I’ll probably get this one wrong.

Redskins

War of the Woes and the Redskins fans just might have a reason to show up for this game.

Josh Freeman at QB?  Guaranteed loss is what that means.

 Bills

Miami’s problems just got worse when Chad Pennington went down for the year.  For all you Terrell Owens fantasy owners out there – this is your week.

New starting QB for Dolphins…highly doubtful they’ll win this one.

Saints

Saints

The sign of a good team is to go in to an environment, such as the Superdome, and shut down an offense juggernaut like Drew Brees and the Saints.  I’m not certain the Jets can continue this dominant streak and match TD for TD.

Tough game here….but gotta go with the home team.

Cowboys

Fred

 Cowboys

Denver comes into this game with a top 3 NFL defense.  The problem is they haven’t played a real high powered offense.  They did play the Bengals in week 1 but if you watched the game you would know that it was a fluke win.

Denver’s barely beat Bengals, and played awful teams so far.  Cowboys will show them real competition.

49ers

 49ers

49ers come back home with something to prove.  With an injured Bulger I don’t see the Rams leaving California with a win.

Even after that heartbreaking loss,  I think Singletary will have the Niners minds right to beat the horrific Rams.

Steelers

Two losses in a row for Pittsburgh….  what’s going on?  Certainly they couldn’t make it three in a row.

  Steelers can’t go 1-3

Packers

This game has been on the calendar since Favre’s return and man it should be a good one.

Entire Packers team is going to be jacked for this one.  Rodgers is due for a breakout game too.
